In preparation for the game tomorrow, our practice was focused on some basic, fundamental, and transferable skills that the girls will carry and use in sports throughout their active lives! Certain things we focused on were:
- Opening up your body to the ball (not remaining facing directly toward the net after the ball comes to our side of the court)
- Confidence in Serves - this is the one time in the sport where you have complete control of the ball - many outside factors during the "plays" are not a distractor!
- Communication, communication, communication! Setter announces position and every ball is called and committed to before it crosses the boundary of the net!
Our next game is against SAS. The C1 team will be taking them on at home (Lower school) and the C2 team will be traveling to their campus. Come out and support the team as they play their matches between 4 and 5pm... the girls MUST be in full dress code in order to play (SCIS gym shirt, SCIS shorts, and athletic shoes... knee pads highly encouraged). Once again, activities buses will take girls home after the game. Any athlete wishing to leave with a parent must come to their respective coach, with their parent, for approval. Hope to see you all cheering on our dragons tomorrow! Once again, if anyone is interested in acting as "team parent" for one of many available opportunities to serve (picture taking/drinks or snacks/communication, etc.) for one our matches or throughout the season, please reach out to me at 183-0172-1319. Thanks much - Go Dragons! Coach Sokola |
