Hey Volleyball Parents, Can you believe another MS sporting season is coming to an end? The past few weeks have flown by and I have had an absolute blast coaching the girls through practices and games. The last C1 game will take place tomorrow at Dulwich. The last C2 game will ALSO take place tomorrow at Dulwich. Both teams will be traveling to our games together, and activities buses will be there to pick your daughter up and take her to her activities drop off. Reminder: If your daughter wants to go home with you following the game, please check in with the appropriate coach before heading out. In terms of the Jamboree this weekend:
Please let us know if your daughter does NOT plan on taking the activities bus to or from the jamboree this Saturday at the appropriate times and locations below by emailing the appropriate coach (C1 Coach Sokola or C2 Coach King). (Some examples would be if you plan to provide transportation, if your daughter needs to be picked up at a different listed location, or if your daughter will be walking). The louder our Green Dragon Crowd, the better!
Thank you so much for your support throughout the season and for raising such driven student-athletes! As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to me! Hope to see you in the stands! ~Coach Sokola Hello C1 Volleyball Parents!
My name is Jessica Hornell (Klara's mom) I've volunteered to help Coach Sokola to be her team parent during this very short and yet intensive volleyball season for our MS girls - that is sadly nearing its end... But first we have CISS coming to the Lower School this Thursday and then the last away game at Dulwich on March 13, followed by the end of season Tournament on March 15! Coach Sokola and I thought it would be great to finish off the season with an end of season party for the team some time during the week after the tournament (more details to come). I hope as many parents as possible will be able to come and cheer for our Green Dragon team this Thursday at the Lower School. It would be great if someone would bring a little snack for our girls. If you are not able to make it to the game you can send in something with your daughter in the morning - it is much appreciated :) Please do not hesitate to email me if you have any questions or suggestions about the end of season party! Looking forward to seeing you on Thursday! Jessica email: [email protected] Hello Volleyball parents,
Another great Tuesday of practices has come and gone - the girls are really starting to becoming familiar with each other, the court, and the game! Our third game is tomorrow, February 27th:
I am needing a final confirmation for headcount for your daughter to attend the Volleyball "Cross-River Event" Jamboree taking place on Saturday, March 15th, from approximately 9:00am - 2:00pm. This is an excellent opportunity for the girls to get multiple games in a short period of time, playing against teams that will not have faced during the regular season. The expectation is that the entire teams (C1 and C2) that have committed to MS Volleyball as their ASA activity will attend and compete in their final set of matches for the season. Please respond to [email protected] letting me know that I can plan on your daughter attending the Jamboree on Saturday, March 15, 2014. This is for both C1 and C2 teams. Thanks much, looking forward to seeing you all at the game tomorrow! Go Dragons, Coach Sokola Hello Vball parents! In preparation for the game tomorrow, our practice was focused on some basic, fundamental, and transferable skills that the girls will carry and use in sports throughout their active lives! Certain things we focused on were:
Hi Parents, Today is your daughters first volleyball game of the 2014 MS Volleyball season, with the C1 team playing at YCIS and the C2 team playing home at the lower school! It is always exciting to see teams come together in uniform and in spirit! Both games will begin at 4:00pm and finish up at 5:00pm. Buses will take students to their activities stop following the games. We would LOVE to have your support and cheers during these fun matches, and we would also love to capture these memories through pictures. If you are able to make the games and have a camera, or a phone that takes photos, please feel free to upload them to our Facebook group: (https://www.facebook.com/groups/MSVolleyball2014SCIS/) Hope to see many of you in the stands today! If you have any questions, please feel free to shoot me a text (best way of getting my attention quickly during the school day…) at 183-0172-1319. Go Dragons, Coach Sokola Dear Parents (and players), Your daughter has made a wonderful decision to play the best sport in the world - Volleyball! We would like to take a moment an introduce ourselves as the coaches for the girls grade 7&8 teams this year, as Sara Sokola (C1) and Ellen King (C2). Your daughter will be working with one of us this season. Our main goals are to develop their volleyball skills and have a lot of fun at the same time. With middle school sports, the focus is on skill development and playing time as opposed to "winning or losing". This week we will be splitting the grade 7 & 8 girls teams into a C1 (competitive) and a C2 (non-competitative) team. We have broken the girls up into these two teams based on skill and experience in order to optimize playing time. Regardless of which team your daughter ends up on, she is guaranteed to have fun, improve her skills and participate on a team sport.
We have a game every Thursday and a practice every Tuesday. There may be changes along the way to the schedule (below), but you will be informed if there is. At the end of the season in March, there will be a tournament that will be held on a Saturday (details will come later). We all hope that you will have the opportunity to come, cheer and support our teams! This Thursday, February 13th from 4-5pm, the C1 team has their first game at YCIS, while the C2 team will have their first home game against DCS. All home games will be held at the SCIS lower school campus. We hope that you can come cheer on the girls! Also, we will be looking for a team parents who would be willing and able to take an active role with the team in terms of parent/coach communication, after game snacks, or anything else the team may need. If anyone is interested, please contact me or Sara and let us know. If you should have any questions, comments or concerns during the season, please let us know. Cheers Coach Sokola and Coach King
